Feng Shui Wealth Areas: Where to Find Them in Your Home

When people think about attracting wealth with Feng Shui, one of the first questions they often ask is:

Where should I place a wealth bowl?

But before adding a wealth bowl, coins, crystals or any other symbolic enhancement to your home, I think there's a more important question to ask:

Where are your wealth areas in Feng Shui?

The answer isn't necessarily as simple as placing an object in the far-left corner of your home.

There are different approaches to Feng Shui, but when working with traditional principles, understanding the compass orientation of your home is an important starting point.

Your home has its own unique layout and orientation. By understanding this, you can begin to identify areas associated with wealth and prosperity — both within your home and through your own personal auspicious directions.

Start by Mapping Your Home

Before looking at wealth areas, you first need to understand the orientation of your home.

This means taking compass readings and mapping the directions onto your floor plan.

Once you've established where North, South, East and West fall within your property, you can accurately identify the different sectors of your home.

This is important because the sectors aren't determined simply by where your front door is positioned.

Every home is different.

A sector that falls in the back-left corner of one property could fall somewhere completely different in another.

That's why I always recommend understanding your home's compass directions before making Feng Shui enhancements.

The Southeast Sector and Wealth

Within the traditional Bagua, the Southeast sector is associated with wealth and abundance.

Once you've mapped your home using compass directions, you can identify where the Southeast falls within your home.

This could be a bedroom, living room, kitchen, hallway or another part of your home entirely.

The Southeast is associated with the Wood element, which represents growth and development.

When considering this area, you may want to look at whether the environment feels healthy and supportive.

For example:

* Is the area clean and organised?

* Is there good natural light?

* Is the space cluttered or difficult to access?

* Could you introduce healthy plants?

* Does the area feel neglected?

Wood can be supported by the Water element within the Five Element productive cycle, so this may also be considered when looking at suitable enhancements.

A healthy plant, for example, can be a simple way of introducing Wood energy into the space.

Elements to Consider in the Southeast

Understanding the Five Elements can help you make more thoughtful choices about how you enhance a space.

Because the Southeast is associated with Wood:

* Water supports Wood

* Wood strengthens Wood

* Fire is produced by Wood

* Metal controls Wood

This doesn't mean you need to panic if you have a particular object or feature in the Southeast.

Feng Shui is about understanding your environment rather than becoming fearful of it.

You may have permanent features in this area that cannot be moved, such as a kitchen or fireplace.

The purpose of learning Feng Shui is to understand the relationships between the elements and work intelligently with the environment you already have.

Your Personal Wealth Direction

Your home isn't the only place where you can explore wealth and success through Feng Shui.

Your Life Gua can also provide you with four auspicious directions.

One of these directions is associated with wealth and success.

This can be particularly useful when thinking about where you spend time working.

For example, if you work from a desk, you could explore whether you are able to face one of your auspicious directions while working.

You can also consider the environment around your workspace.

Ask yourself:

* Is your desk organised?

* Do you have enough space to work comfortably?

* Is there anything distracting or draining your attention?

* Do you have fresh air and good lighting?

* Does your workspace support concentration and productivity?

Sometimes Feng Shui isn't about adding something new.

Sometimes it's about making better use of the environment you already have.

So, Where Does a Wealth Bowl Fit In?

This brings us back to the original question.

Where should you place a wealth bowl?

A wealth bowl can be used as a symbolic representation of abundance and prosperity.

If you are considering placing one in your home, the Southeast sector is an area you may wish to explore because of its traditional association with wealth.

However, I wouldn't recommend simply placing a wealth bowl in a particular corner because someone online has told you that's where your wealth corner is.

First understand your home.

Map the compass directions.

Identify where the Southeast sector actually falls.

Then consider whether the area is suitable and what energy is already present there.

A wealth bowl can then become a meaningful symbolic enhancement rather than simply another object placed in a corner.

Feng Shui Is More Than Finding One Wealth Corner

One of the things I love about traditional Feng Shui is that it encourages you to look beyond quick fixes.

There isn't a magic corner that will suddenly make you wealthy.

Instead, Feng Shui encourages you to understand the relationship between:

* Your home and its compass orientation

* The different directional sectors

* The Five Elements

* Your personal auspicious directions

* The environment in which you live and work

The Southeast sector can provide one perspective on wealth and abundance within your home.

Your personal Life Gua can provide another perspective through your individual auspicious directions.

And symbolic objects, such as a wealth bowl, can be used thoughtfully once you understand the bigger picture.

Start With Understanding

Before buying another Feng Shui cure or placing an object in a particular corner of your home, take a step back.

Start with the foundations.

Learn how to:

1. Map your home accurately

2. Identify the compass directions

3. Locate the Southeast sector

4. Understand the Five Elements

5. Discover your personal Life Gua

6. Find your auspicious directions

The more you understand about your home, the more confidently you can work with its Feng Shui.

And perhaps that's the real secret to creating a home that supports the life you want to build.
